We meet Steph a week later for her next psych evaluation (11th February 2013).
The psychologist gets straight down to business, wanting to talk about Lucas Fitzgerald the name almost causing Steph to choke on the water she is sipping! But most of all, just thinking about him has a huge smile radiating from Stephs face.
STEPH: He's tops!
After adding that's a daggy name to refer someone by, she then expands to say he's fun and he's smart and hes such a great guy.
STEPH: He's someone in my life who's never let me down.
The psychologist wonders why they didn't get together and Steph admits that it was because she didn't appreciate a good thing until it was too late.
STEPH: Before I went inside, Lucas asked me to run away with him and I said no and umm I think I've replayed that conversation over in my head pretty much every day since I've been here.
PSYCHOLOGIST: Do you regret it?
STEPH: Why, you can't change the past.
You didn't answer the question, the psych comments and Steph admits that yes, she does regret it but quickly adds that she was doing the right thing whatever that's worth. She wants to know what Steph will do when she sees him again and her reply is to have a beer and talk. Steph explains that they could sit for hours and talk about anything but the psych fears that they might not be able to pick up where they left off given how long she has been incinerated.
STEPH: No, Lucas wouldn't have changed.
PSYCHOLOGIST: But his circumstances have?
STEPH: Yes, I get that he could be in a relationship and that's cool.
PSYCHOLOGIST: Really?
STEPH: Yes. Well I really want him to be happy and as long as he's found someone that's just fantastic and totally gets him, then I'm cool with being just friends.
